  • 7209 Assistive devices from ALIMCO & 316 from DDRC, Red Cross etc., were procured and supplied to CWSN.

  • Awareness generation and Peer sensitization programmes were organized at mandal level

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION RESOURCE CENTERS (BHAVITHA Centers)

To provide early child intervention, therapeutic support and special educational services to CWSN, 226 Inclusive Education Resource Centers (BHAVITHA Centers) were started @ one per every three mandals.

Early Child Intervention, Special Training and Home Based Education in the State

HOME BASED EDUCATION

  • 3,804 children with severe and profound Mental Retardation/ Cerebral Palsy are availing Home Based Education facility in the state
  • AP SSA has engaged 1268 Special Educators as Inclusive Education Resource Teachers. Child’s progress is being monitored regularly with help of Individualized Educational Plans.

SPECIAL TRAINING CENTERS

CWSN are being provided Special Trainings under School Readiness program in a Non-residential mode in Bhavitha Centers and Mandal Resource Centers. So far 665 Mandals are covered by this programme.

INCLUSIVE KGBVs For Girl CWSN

  • AP Govt. School Education (PE-SSA) Dept., in consultation with the Woman Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare Dept, jointly issued G.O. Rt. No. 658 Dt: 26.08.2011 for providing opportunity to the girl CWSN to study in the KGBVs.
  • This order recognizes two KGBVs in every district as inclusive KGBVs by reserving 20 seats for girl CWSN
    • Twenty seats reserved in each Inclusive KGBV separately for Hearing & Visual Impaired girl children.
    • Two female Resource Teachers (Special Educators) have been attended to Inclusive KGBV to teach CWSN twice in a week.
    • Two female Resource Teachers (Special Educators) have been attended to Inclusive KGBV to teach CWSN twice in a week.
    • Braille Text Books supplied to the Visual Impaired Children in KGBVs.

LOGISTIC SUPPORT TO MINOR CORRECTIVE SURGERIES

  • Minor corrective surgeries were done so far to 3,015 children with Cleft-lip/palate in collaboration with…
  • TTD Hospitals - Tirupathi,
  • Basavatarakam - Smile Train Project - Hyderabad,
  • Meenakshi Hospitals - Chennai and
  • Impact India Foundation - Mumbai etc.

PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMPS

  • 11432 children are availing physiotherapy in 671 mandals in the state throughout the year. This has helped to many children particularly children with Cerebral Palsy and Orthopedically Impaired to attend the school.
  • AP SSA hired 371 Physiotherapists to perform this activity at Mandal level.

ESCORT ALLOWANCE

  • AP SSA paying Escort Allowance of Rs 250/- per month for CWSN.
  • 8,528 children are benefitted with ‘Escort allowance’ to access school in present academic year. This facility attracted many parents to send their CWSN to schools.
  • To ensure Regular and Prompt payment of escort allowance amount to the children the amount is being released through SMCs.

NEW INTERVENTIONS for CWSN in APSSA

  • Curricular Modifications in D.Ed introduced a paper exclusively in general D.Ed curriculum on Inclusive Education for CWSN from the academic year 2009-10 as per the G.O.Ms.No. 30 Dt:11-02-2009.
  • AP SSA fixed lower age limit from 6 years to 4 years for CWSN as per the G.O.Ms.No. 3 Dated: 09.01.2012

DAY TRAINING TO TEACHERS ON INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PRACTICES

As per RTE Act-2009, a 5 - day training on Inclusive Education Practices to all teachers teaching the classes up to 8th class in regular schools and make necessary entries of the training details in the Service Registers of the teachers who have undergone the training programme as per the G.O.Rt.No: 153 Dt: 01.03.2011

Awareness to Teachers on LEARNING DISABILITIES

  • Minimum 10-15% of school children are encountering the problem of Learning Disabilities
  • Recommendations for amendments in Examination. Rules of State Board of Education for allowing extra time during examinations, 3rd language exemption and scribed for students who suffer from DYSLEXIA as per the G.O.Ms.No.34 Dt.5-3-2004.
  • Initiated measures to create awareness & sensitize the teachers about the manifestations of LD
  • Developed & supplied Carry-in-pocket brochure on LD with remedial measures to all school teachers in the state.

NEW INITIATIVES/INTERVENTIONS PLANNED FOR 2015-16

  • Escort & Transport Allowances are going to be disbursed at their homes. Certain steps are initiated recently.
  • To provide training in Kuchipudi Dance for interested Boys & Girls with Hearing Impaired
  • Online tracking of the Inclusive Education activities by developing new web application an AADHAR based Biometric attendance.
  • State Resource Center for Inclusive Education is also planned to provide to the Andhra Pradesh in the lines of SSA,Tamilnadu.

PRE-VOCATIONAL TRAINING

  • For Children with Mild & Moderate MR & CWSN pre-vocational training needs to be initiated to get better results from 11+ age group.
  • Some Parents of CWSN in Ravulapalem Mandal of East Godavari District took up some productive work at Bhavitha center. The parents of CWSN may be encouraged by providing pre-vocational training to the CWSN by their parents in the center. The required material and support shall be provided by AP SSA.

  • APSSA is proposed to train on curriculum adaptations to 9662 teachers @ one per Primary school and one teacher per three upper primary schools on an average.
